1 For an extensive description of the literature on this specimen see Schuchert (2009). The species is based on the description by Slabber only. Schuchert concludes: Protiara tetranema is a doubtful, unrecognizable species.
2 Holthuis (1956) identified it as a Sphaeroma in a very young stage. He added that it is probably S. hookeri because this species is is very common in Zeeland
